Live acts

We are open to your proposals. We are moving very quickly on this. We have a very low budget for this year. A willingness to work for nothing will absolutely make it more likely that you might be included. A willingness to be flexible about sharing the door will help immensely. If you juggle, do physical comedy of any type, mime, act, poetize, read, clown, etc. etc. If you are a live comedian or anything that fits the definition of LIVE please write us.

Films and Videos

This is a call for comedy or humorous film submissions.

Films can be actual films or digital.

Film and digital arts submissions.

In 2008 we have to move very quickly. We’ll develop further and more complicated submission standards as we go along.

All films are open for submission as long as they are clearly humorous. Anything funny is on the table. Black (the humor not the color skin) humor, dour humor, or ghoulish or sophomoric or doo-fus, amateurish, dirty, stupid, sweet, erotic…… it is all welcome. Yes. Youtube.com stuff is welcome as are minor videos, home movies, web based clips.... it is all up for consideration. If in doubt: please submit.

Only DVD’s or web links will be considered for submissions. Do not send a 35mm print under any circumstances. You can send us a link to a web based video for consideration. You agree to provide us with a DVD for the showing if your film is accepted.

If a film has been reviewed by multiple reviewers that will suffice for us to consider it as a submission. Please advise us.

If the film has been shown before or published on the web we do not care. Your work is welcome.

We can show either DVD or 35MM at the festival. A DVD makes it more likely that we’ll choose to show your movie as it will make it easier in the technical department.

Please send your DVD with a cover letter to CALF 93 Main Street Belfast, Maine 04915.

Clearly mark your DVD and the DVD case with your movie name and all contact information.

If you want your DVD back please include a prepaid mailer. If we do not receive a prepaid mailer we will not be able to send it back.

There is no submission charge.

We will notify you if the film is accepted.

Films will be chosen by April 1st at the latest.

Submitting a film is an agreement by you to allow the film to be shown at the Comic Arts Laugh Festival.

If we choose to show your movie we cannot compensate you in any way.

If your movie is chosen you will need to provide us with some digital art for the print and web promotion and a description of the film and your bio.
